Atelier signs Broadway star Deborah Cox, Nets’ Jerry Stackhouse as tenants

The Atelier is getting two more celebrity residents. Brooklyn Nets powerhouse Jerry Stackhouse and Broadway star Deborah Cox are the newest boldface names to sign leases at the Moinian Group-developed condominium building at 635 West 42nd Street between Eleventh and Twelfth avenues, a source with knowledge of the deals told The Real Deal.

Stackhouse and Cox join a long list of celebs who have rented at the 46-story tower, including Dania Ramirez of “Entourage” fame and former “E.R.” star Mekhi Pfifer, who stayed there during the run of Broadway’s “Stick Fly.”

Cox is currently starring in The Broadway musical “Jekyll & Hyde” and previously appeared on Broadway in “Aida.” She also earned a Grammy nomination for one of her seven albums, “Destination Moon.” She moved into her Atelier unit around the time her Broadway run began last month, the source said.

Stackhouse, meanwhile, started out playing professional basketball for the Philadelphia 76ers in 1995. He was playing for the Atlanta Hawks when he was traded to the Nets last year. He moved in around the start of the basketball season last October, the source said.

The source declined to specify how much Cox and Stackhouse are paying for their apartments.

Dan Neiditch, president of River 2 River Realty, which handles rentals and sales at the building, could not confirm or deny the leases.

As The Real Deal previously reported, several stars have scoped out the building’s rentals over the years, including Lindsay Lohan, Jeff Goldblum, former “Saved by the Bell” star Tiffani Thiessen and comedian Dane Cooke. The source said no other celebrities are currently staying in the building.

Rental units on the market at the Atelier are asking between $3,300 and $12,000 per month, StreetEasy shows.

The Costas Kondylis-designed building features a contemporary art gallery in its lobby, a 12,000-square-foot health club, rooftop lounge, tennis court and movie theater.
