The New York Hotel Trades Council & Hotel Association of New York City, the 75,000-member hotel workers’ union, has purchased a $19 million Brooklyn parking lot, on which it plans to build a health center for union members and their families, the New York Observer reported. The property will cost roughly $90 million to complete.

The lot is located at 620 Fulton Street, which is one block away from a 200-room hotel coming to 95 Rockwell Place. The union facility will have health, pharmacy and dental portions.

The union already has a health care center at 68-80 Schermerhorn Street, but the union’s political director declined to tell the Observer what would happen with this property. The three-story building has over 50,000 square feet in residential or commercial development rights, the Observer noted. [NYO]Zachary Kussin
