Rental hot list: East Village, two-bedrooms

The Rental hot list is a weekly web feature looking at the most popular Manhattan renter queries. The East Village was the most popular neighborhood for tenants looking for a rental apartment in Manhattan in the last week, according to data from apartment listings website Zumper.

Rounding out the top five neighborhoods getting the most attention from renters were, in order, the Upper West Side, Greenwich Village, Gramercy and the Upper East Side, the data show.

In terms of unit types, two-bedroom apartments were the most popular, comprising 54 percent of renter inquiries to brokers. The median rent query was for $3,045 a month.

The median query for studios — trailing two-bedrooms with 23.5 percent of the leads — was for $1,725. Median rent inquiries were for $2,590 for one-bedrooms (11.25 percent), $3,545 for three-bedrooms (6.75 percent) and $4,125 for four-bedrooms (4.5 percent), the data show. –Mark Maurer

Source: Data provided to The Real Deal by Zumper, an apartment listings website. The rankings were determined by a representative sample of emails and phone calls sent by Zumper users in response to Manhattan rental listings available on the site during the week of May 30 through June 6.
