Updated, 12:49 p.m., Aug. 15: Jewel thieves in the city have found a favorite stomping ground — the ultra-exclusive co-op 740 Park Avenuehome to some of the world’s most powerful and influential people, the New York Post reported.

More than $100,000 worth of jewelry – including wedding rings and watches – has been stolen in four separate incidents since May, police sources told the Post.

A representative from Brown Harris Stevens, which manages the building, told The Real Deal that “we can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation and that we are cooperating with the authorities.”

The list of stolen items could be even larger, according to the Post, because some of the residents — including billionaires David Koch and Stephen Schwarzman and designer Vera Wang — are so wealthy that they may not have noticed further theft.

“Most of the victims didn’t realize when their items went missing,” a source told the newspaper. “Many people have access [to the building], including service staff and workers,” the source added. [NYP]  – Hiten Samtani
