Rentals in demand: Upper East Side, three-bedrooms

The seemingly unstoppable Upper East Side is the most in-demand Manhattan neighborhood for the fifth-straight week, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website. The other most popular spots, in order, are the Upper West Side, Soho, Greenwich Village and the East Village. All but the Upper West Side are on Manhattan’s East Side.

“Interestingly, the bulk of studio and one-bedroom searches went to the Upper West Side, whereas most three- and four-bedroom searches went to the Upper East Side,” Zumper COO Taylor Glass-Moore told The Real Deal.

Renters asked brokers about three-bedroom apartments more than any other apartment type — 40 percent of total inquiries, the data from Zumper show. The median rent query for three-bedroom apartments in Manhattan overall was $6,500 a month.

One-bedrooms had 23 percent of the total market share, and a median inquiry of $2,698, while four-bedrooms had 16 percent of the market and a median query of $5,250 a month. Two-bedrooms had an uncharacteristically low-key week, with 11 percent of inquiries at a median of $4,145 a month, the report shows.
