Laura Mercier, former make-up artist to Madonna and co-founder of the eponymous cosmetics line, appears to have purchased a $5.9 million condominium at Walker Tower.

The sale of the 16th floor unit at the Chelsea tower, at 212 West 18th Street, hit city property records today. The two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom apartment boasts 2,148 square feet of space, according to StreetEasy.

The 47-unit, 24-story tower, developed by a partnership of Property Markets Group and JDS Development, began marketing units in July of 2012. Mercier’s unit was last asking $5.97 million, according to StreetEasy.

Douglas Elliman took over as the exclusive marketer at Walker Tower, ousting CORE from the post, this May.

Mercier, who was born in France, came to New York City in the 1980s, according to published reports. After she painted the face of the “Material Girl” for a shoot, she reportedly became Madonna’s personal make-up artist. In 1996, she launched the cosmetics line that bears her name, which she and co-founder Gary Kusin sold in 2006 to Michigan-based Alticor, the parent company of Amway, with assurances that her creative control would be unchecked, reports show.

An email to Laura Mercier cosmetics was not immediately returned. A representative for Walker Tower declined to comment.

Closings at the Ralph Walker-designed tower began just last month, as The Real Deal reported. Two units remain available, a representative for the development said.

Earlier this year, both Cameron Diaz and Ryan Seacrest were said to be looking at apartments at the condo conversion, between Seventh and Eighth avenues.

Walker Tower’s Penthouse Two hit the market in November asking $47.5 million; Penthouse One went into contract for just over $50 million at the end of October.
