Saparn Realty VP arrested, charged with grand larceny

Saparn Realty executive Alan Gorelick has been arrested and charged with funneling over $600,000 from Harway Terrace — a building complex he managed — into his firm’s own account.

Gorelick was arrested on January 16 and charged with one count of grand larceny and nine counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, the New York Observer reported. Unable to make the $750,000 bail, he has remained in the Metropolitan Detention Center since then, his attorney Brian Maas of Frankfurt Kurnit + Selz told the Observer. The Saparn manager will be arraigned on the indictment Feb. 19, and, if convicted of all charges, could serve up to 15 years in jail.

Gorelick, a REBNY member, managed the two-building complex at 2475 West 16 Street in the Gravesend area of Brooklyn from 2001 until the end of 2011. During that time, he allegedly routed $610,914.94 from Harway Terrace into Saparn’s business bank account, “either by depositing checks from third parties written to the order of Harway Terrace or by depositing checks written against two of Harway Terrace’s accounts into Saparn’s business accounts,” according to a criminal complaint, cited by the New York Observer, reads.

Gorelick is vice president of Saparn, while his wife Anita Sapirman is the founder and president. He serves as the firm’s intermediary with the banking community and runs both the sales and mortgage departments, according to the Observer. [NYO] — Julie Strickland
