Rentals in demand: West Village, Soho one-bedrooms

The majority of Manhattan apartment searches from prospective renters last week were for one-bedroom apartments, with higher-priced listings in the West Village and Soho upping the median price, according to Zumper, an apartment listings website. One-bedrooms had 46 percent of the leads and a median inquiry of $2,973 per month. Listings ranging from $3,500 to $4,000 per month boosted the inquiry price for one-bedrooms.

“The difference in one- and two-bedroom prices comes from a large amount of one-bedroom inquiries for high priced apartments in the West Village, Soho and Noho that drove up the median,” Zumper COO Taylor Glass-Moore told The Real Deal. “The two-bedroom searches were for lower-priced places.”

Studios had one-quarter of the leads, and a $1,995 inquiry. Two-bedrooms had 16 percent and $2,650, while three-bedrooms had 13 percent and $4,050.

Meanwhile, West Village was the most in-demand Manhattan neighborhoods for would-be renters, Zumper data show. Following that neighborhood were, in order, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, Greenwich Village and a tie between Noho and Chelsea.
