Atlantic Yards is no more. Developer Greenland Forest City Partners has rechristened the controversial $4.9 billion project Pacific Park Brooklyn. And along with news of the rebranding, the developer released a slew of new details about upcoming buildings and green space.

The joint venture comprised of Forest City Ratner and Shanghai based Greenland Group has named COOKFOX as architect for the next two towers in the project. It has also appointed Thomas Balsley Associates to design an eight-acre park bounded by the surrounding buildings.

The first building, 535 Carlton Avenue at Dean Street, will contain roughly 300 affordable units for low- and middle-income tenants. The developer is slated to break ground in December. In June, Forest City Ratner signed an agreement with New York state to accelerate construction of below-rate housing at the 22-acre development site.

A condominium building at 550 Vanderbilt Avenue at Dean Street will contain approximately 275 market-rate units and get under way shortly after construction begins on 535 Carlton Avenue.

SHoP Architects expects that construction on another 100-percent affordable rental building will begin in June 2015. That project will contain about 300 units at 30 Sixth Avenue on the arena block. — Tom DiChristopher
