Wingate by Wyndham hotel heading to Long Island City

A 26-story hotel is coming to Long Island City.

Fongtar Realty, a Bronx-based developer, has applied for a permit to construct the 256-foot-tall building at 32-35 Queens Boulevard in Long Island City, according to property records filed with the city today. The application calls for 150 rooms.

Fongtar bought the 10,000-square-foot site in 2008 for $3.8 million.

The hotel, which will be operated under the Wingate by Wyndham brand, will be a total of 104,424 square feet, according to Frank Chen, a director at Fongtar. Of the total, 44,430 will be devoted to a community facility and 59,994 will be devoted to commercial space, according to the application. The project will come with 16 parking spaces.

For Fongtar, this is its first project in Long Island City, Chen said, adding that they most recently completed a 12-story residential building in Riverdale.

A Wyndham spokesperson could not immediately be reached.

No renderings were available yet for the project, Chen said. The project is expected to be completed in about two years, Chen added.

Raymond Chan, a Queens-based architect with multiple projects in Flushing and other areas of the borough, is the architect of record, but could not immediately be reached.
