One-three punch: LaMotta’s Astoria site slated for condo project

Great-nephew of “The Raging Bull” sold multifamily assemblage

Christopher LaMotta, great-nephew of middleweight boxing great Jake “The Raging Bull” LaMotta, has sold a development site in Astoria that can hold as many as 70 luxury condominium units, The Real Deal has learned.

Effy Dionysiou, a Little Neck-based investor, and a Bayside-based Anagnostopoulos family trust have plans for a building at least seven stories tall. The site, which currently holds three contiguous rental buildings at 21-03, 21-07 and 21-09 Astoria Boulevard, offers 49,000 buildable square feet.

The new condo building would instead hold a roughly 5,000-square-foot retail space, and likely north of 60 apartments. There is nearly 3,000 square feet of existing retail space.

An architect has not yet been selected.

The new owners paid $7.5 million for the buildings, said the Bouklis Group’s Tom Bouklis, who represented the buyers and the seller. The Bouklis Group will also handle sales of the apartments, he said.

LaMotta is co-owner of Daniela Trattoria, an Italian restaurant in Midtown, and runs a Whitestone-based real estate business with his wife’s family. He said he occasionally visits his 92-year-old great-uncle at his home in Florida. Robert De Niro famously played the boxer in the 1980 Martin Scorsese film “Raging Bull.”
