Glenwood slashes political donations in big way

“Developer 1” is no longer in first place.

Leonard Litwin’s Glenwood Management, the biggest campaign contributor during last year’s election cycle, slashed its donations in the first half of this year, according to Capital New York. The company donated just 6 percent of what it did during the same time in prior years.

Last year, through multiple LLCs, Litwin outspent all other political donors and gave $3.6 million to candidates across the state of New York. The biggest chunk of that money — about $1 million — went to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s campaign.

After Glenwood‘s Litwin was named as “Developer 1” in the bribery cases against former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and former State Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos, however, the company’s donations have dropped significantly.

During the last six months, Cuomo, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli raised a total of $7.3 million. None of that money, however, came from Glenwood, according to disclosure reports filed with the state Board of Elections cited by Capital.

Of the total of more than 4,000 political committees that submitted disclosure reports earlier this week, only three received money from Glenwood. During the same period in 2013, Glenwood donated $1.27 million to 52 committees.
