Design firm CookFox moving to 250 West 57th

The sustainable design firm CookFox is moving its offices, and its beehives, a few dozen blocks uptown.

CookFox signed a 16-year lease to take just over 18,000 square feet at Empire State Realty Trust’s 250 West 57th Street.

The firm is planning a July 2017 move from its current digs at 641 Sixth Avenue, which has a 3,600-square-foot planted terrace where the company’s beekeeper manages more than 50,000 buzzing yellow insects.

“We couldn’t afford to stay on Ladies’ Mile and had to move to Billionaire’s Row,” Rick Cook, one of CookFox’s partners, told the New York Post. “We believe in the connection to nature and it is beneficial towards having a productive workplace.”

Empire State Realty Trust has asked $60 per square foot for the space, according to Cushman & Wakefield. The REIT bought the 430,000 square foot building in 2013 for $170 million, according to property records.
