These NYC nabes get the most 311 complaints on Halloween

Halloween is coming up this weekend, and you know what that means. Tons of people — from students to professionals, from hipsters to the bridge-and-tunnel crowd – will gather for an evening of mayhem and debauchery.

Yep, you’re in store for large groups of people, loud music and generally a whole lot of noise. And that, as all New Yorkers know, begets a city tradition – the 311 complaint.

In honor of this year’s All Hallow’s Eve, StreetEasy released a study today analyzing the volume and types of 311 complaints made on Halloween weekend over the last two years. The stats detail where the city’s Halloween partiers wreak the most havoc — and where residents take exception the most.

Somewhat predictably, 15 of the 20 rowdiest neighborhoods on Halloween are in Manhattan. Brooklyn, however, reigns supreme – with Gowanus taking the top spot on the list with more than 31 complaints for every 10,000 residents. Nolita, Midtown Manhattan, Soho and the Flatiron District, in that order, round out the top five.

Queens, meanwhile, remains a relatively calm and docile place on Halloween; the only neighborhood in the borough to make the top 20 was Long Island City, which ranked 19th.

And if you’re looking to get away from all the noise and hullabaloo, Flushing Is The Place to be, as it’s the neighborhood with the least 311 complaints – followed by Sheepshead Bay, Canarsie, Jackson Heights and Forest Hills.
