HPD files plans for four East NY affordable buildings

The second phase of the city’s Livonia Commons affordable project is kicking into gear, with permit applications filed for four East New York buildings to contain a total of 292 rental units.

The Department of Housing Preservation & Development filed plans Wednesday for the affordable buildings, all of which will be seven stories, at 463, 487 and 500 Livonia Avenue and 453 Hinsdale Street.

BRP Companies, Local Development Corporation of East New York, HELP USA and Common Solutions are developing the project. Magnusson Architecture Planning will design, New York YIMBY reported.

The buildings at 481 and 500 Livonia Street will be identical, containing 90 units and 79,000 square feet of residential space and 8,800 square feet of retail each.

The property at 463 Livonia Street will house 50 apartments in 59,000 square feet of residential space. The building won’t have retail, but will include a 19,000-square-foot community facility.

The fourth structure, at 463 Hinsdale Street, will contain 62 units in 70,000 square feet of residential space, as well as 11,000 square feet of commercial space and a 1,000-square-foot community facility.

Occupancy at the buildings will be limited to families making between $25,000 and $50,000 a year.
