Here are the 10 largest construction permits issued in Chicago in March

The projects include office buildings, an airline maintenance facility and several residential buildings

The 10 largest construction permits secured last month were scattered across a wide swath of the city, from McKinley Park to O’Hare.

United Airlines had the largest permit in March. The Chicago-based airline and its contractor, M.A. Mortenson Company, got approval from the city for a ground-up maintenance facility at 11601 West Touhy Avenue with an estimated cost of $40 million.

McCaffery Interests had the next biggest. The city signed off on a seven-story office building with retail on the first floor and a garage with 45 parking stalls at 176 North Racine Avenue in the Fulton Market district. The project will be overseen by McCaffery and built by W.E. O’Neil Construction Company. Its projected cost comes in at $27 million.

And Glenstar Asset Management and McShane Construction were approved to build a 149,000-square-foot, eight-story office building with a 174,000-square-foot parking garage at 8647 West Higgins Road in the O’Hare office submarket. The project is expected to cost about $26 million.
