Investor Che Mei Wong plans a 168-key hotel on the back side of a retail and office complex in Chinatown.

Wong paid $10.6 million for the complex at 2353 South Wentworth Avenue in January 2017 where the four-story hotel is planned, according to a filing with the Chicago Zoning Board of Appeals first reported by Crain’s.

It would be the third hotel in the neighborhood, according to city tourism bureau Choose Chicago. The most recent is the 101-room Jaslin Hotel, which opened on Cermak in 2016.

Details of the proposed hotel in Chinatown remain mostly under wraps, though the zoning board filing said it would include a parking garage with 69 space. Wong and an attorney listed on the zoning application did not respond to requests for comment from Crain’s. [Crain’s]John O’Brien
