Chicago Public Schools secured city approval to start work on a new $85 million school at 6835 South Normal Boulevard, notching a step in the city’s plan to merge four Englewood schools into a single new facility.

The school is being built on the existing campus of Robeson High School, one of the four schools being closed or phased out. Current students at the other three schools — TEAM Englewood Community Academy High School, Harper High School and John Hope Academy — have been allowed to keep attending them until graduation.
