Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward pays nearly $7M for Gold Coast condo

The deal is the latest pricey sale at JDL Development’s posh 9 West Walton Street

Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward bought a 19th-floor condo at 9 West Walton Street for $6.9 million, the latest pricey deal at the Gold Coast residential tower.

A Georgia-based LLC managed by Heyward and his father bought the condo June 29, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The 28-year-old right fielder is in the middle of an eight-year, $184 million contract with the Cubs.

JDL Development’s 9 West Walton has dominated the list of most expensive residential deals lately, though Heyward’s purchase is still dwarfed by billionaire Ken Griffin’s deal for the top four floors of the building for almost $59 million. [Chicago Tribune] — John O’Brien
