The 13,000-square-foot new-construction home at 610 South Oak Street is listed at $7.9 million, which is over $3 million more than any other listing in Hinsdale and could smash the town’s priciest home sale record of $5.5 million, according to Crain’s.
The home features six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a basement basketball court and a bar room, according to its Redfin listing. It was built this year and sits on just less than an acre, the listing says.
It is owned by Roger Weston, who netted $180 million when he sold GreatBank to Charter One in 2006, according to Crain’s. The home was previously owned by the Weston family’s money manager, who transferred the deed to a Weston-controlled entity in 2017. Weston and the money manager are ensnared in a legal battle.
The property was bought by the money manager in 2012 for $2.2 million before he leveled the previous home and built the new mansion, according to Crain’s.
Kris Berger of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff is the listing agent.
With a nearly $8 million asking price, the home is in the upper echelon of Chicago-area luxury listings — but there are a few homes asking for much more.
The most expensive listing in the area is a 25,000-square-foot Chicago Lincoln Park mansion listed for $50 million. Behind that is a 130-year-old Gold Coast home that is asking $21.9 million.
In August, a Tudor-style mansion hit the market in Glencoe for $15.9 million. And the mother of all languishing luxury listings — Michael Jordan’s Highland Park estate — remains on the market for $14.4 million. [Crain’s] — Joe Ward
