Lilly and Lana Wachowski, the filmmaking duo behind “The Matrix” and other movies, are selling their North Side film production office.

The Chicago natives are asking $5 million for the 21,500-square-foot building at 5645 North Ravenswood Avenue that’s home to their Kinowerks production firm, according to Crain’s.

The space has been Lilly and Lana Wachowski’s base while making the movies “Speed Racer,” “Cloud Atlas” and “Jupiter Ascending” and the Netflix series “Sense 8.” In addition to three “Matrix” movies, other films from the Wachowskis include “V for Vendetta,” and “Jupiter Ascending.”

The siblings bought the building in 2007 and converted it for writing and pre-and post-production work, Karin Wachowski, Lana’s wife, told Crain’s.

It has a number of green features, including solar panels and a planted green roof, countertops and flooring made of recycled materials, extensive use of skylights, a plug-in station for electric cars and an advanced water reuse and filtration system, according to Crain’s. It also features a 36-person theater and a half-court indoor basketball gym.
