In a shift, Ferrara Candy is now in talks to move its headquarters to the redeveloped Old Main Post Office in the West Loop, abandoning what had been a near certain deal for 60,000 square feet at 625 West Adams Street.

If the company completes its plans for the Old Main Post Office, it would move its 300-person corporate headquarters from Oak Brook. The company would join Walgreens in committing to taking space in 601W Companies’ 2.8 million-square-foot office complex, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A Ferrara spokesperson said the move Downtown is set to occur next year but would not say where.

It was also not clear what led the company to scuttle plans for CA Office and White Oak Realty’s new office building at 625 West Adams Street.

Ferrera at the time said it was looking for a new location that would make it more appealing to potential job applicants. In moving downtown it would join a growing list of suburban companies uprooting from the suburbs for the city or opening an outpost in the city to attract young talent.
