Environs Development wants to build a $15 million home in Lincoln Park that would become one of the most expensive residential listings in the Chicago area.

The Chicago-based firm is planning a 15,500-square-foot home, which would replace two joined 145-year-old homes, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Kevin Wood, the @properties agent who represents homes built by Environs Development, said the company has not yet closed on the property with the sellers, Ronald and Deborah Clarkson.

Wood said that buyers could also split the property in two and build smaller houses.

Environs built four new homes on the former site of a 10-unit condo building on the same block. Two sold for roughly $6.5 million and $6.8 million, one is under contract at a price Wood would not disclose and the fourth is listed for $7.5 million.

The most expensive listing on the market in the area is a Lincoln Park mansion on Burling Street whose owners are seeking $50 million, followed by a Gold Coast mansion listed for $21.9 million. A Lake Bluff mansion hit the market last month at $19.5 million.

The luxury home market is having a strong year, with the number of sales over $4 million already outpacing the total from all of 2016 or all of 2017. [Crain’s] — John O’Brien
