Related Midwest opens rental portion of One Bennett Park
The rental portion of Related Midwest’s high-end residential project in Streeterville is now open. The 70-story One Bennett Park was designed by Robert A. M. Stern and features 279 apartments with rents starting at $3,705 for one-bedrooms, $4,795 per for two-bedrooms, $7,995 for three-bedrooms, and $18,500 a month for a four-bedroom penthouse unit. The building’s 69 condos are expected to open next year. [Curbed]
Archdiocese pays $1.7M for Lincoln Park residence for priests
The Archdiocese of Chicago bought a four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot house in Lincoln Park for parish priests, at St. Clement Catholic Church. The archdiocese paid $1.7 million. Former owners Bill and Kathryn Linville bought the water-damaged home out of foreclosure in 2013 for $1.025 million, then had it gutted and renovated. [Chicago Tribune]
Bagel Jewish deli closing at Westfield Old Orchard
Beloved deli The Bagel is closing its location in the Westfield Old Orchard mall in Skokie after 31 years. General manager Richard Brantner said the mall wants the space as part of renovations planned since Lord & Taylor closed next door. Owner Danny Wolf’s family, Holocaust survivors, first opened The Bagel in 1950 in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. [Chicago Tribune]
Lake Forest estate once owned by Hull House benefactor hits market
A Lake Forest home once owned by pioneering Chicago businesswoman Helen Culver is on the market for $1.2 million. In 1889, Culver inherited the home on Halsted Street in Chicago, and let Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr run their famed Hull House social and educational programs for immigrants rent-free. She built the Rookwoods mansion in 1900 on a 47-acre estate overlooking the Middlefork of the Chicago River in Lake Forest. [Crain’s]
Byline Bank extends lease, footprint at Schaumburg office center
Byline Bank signed a lease extension and expansion at the Woodfield Preserve Office Center in Schaumburg. The bank is taking 34,200 square feet in Zeller Realty Group’s complex at 20 North Martingale Road, upping its footprint by about a third to accommodate future growth. Bill Elwood and Rob Graham of CBRE represented Zeller in the transaction, while David Ven Horst of Tenant Advisors represented the bank. [REJournals]
Barbara’s Bookstore moving into old Barnes & Noble at Hawthorn Mall
Barbara’s Bookstore, which opened in 1963 in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, is opening in the former Barnes & Noble store in Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills. Joining Barbara’s in the 29,000-square-foot space will be Hansa Coffee Roasters. It replaces Starbucks, which moved with Barnes & Noble to its smaller location across Milwaukee Avenue. [Daily Herald]
