Pulte Homes’ plan to build a large residential subdivision near Naperville scored a key vote from city officials last week.

The Naperville planning and zoning commission last week approved the Atlanta-based homebuilder’s plans for the new subdivision on 113 acres on the old Wagner Farms property near 103rd Street and Illinois 59, according to the Daily Herald.

The plan calls for 312 houses ranging from 2,400 to 3,600 square feet along with a new eight-acre campus for the Compass Church, its fifth location in the suburbs.

Publicly-traded Pulte, which is under contract to buy the site, asked the city to revise zoning for the property from a 2002 plan that allowed commercial, senior housing and mixed-density residential uses.

The commission recommended the full Naperville City Council approve the plan when it considers it at a future meeting. Pulte plans to ask the city to annex the property, according to the Daily Herald.

Developer K. Hovnanian earlier this year announced plans to build as many as 500 new residential units on the old Nokia campus off Interstate 88 in Naperville. The plan could include a variety of single-family homes and an apartment building. [Daily Herald] — John O’Brien
