Related Midwest gives first look a new Red Line station for The 78
Related Midwest unveiled its plans for a new CTA Red Line stop that would be part of The 78 mega-development in the South Loop. The new station would go on the southeast corner of Clark and 15th streets. The glass-wrapped portion above ground would feature an open atrium to bring natural light to the train platforms.[Curbed]
Rancics’ Gold Coast mansion under contract
Television personalities Bill and Giuliana Rancic signed a contract this week to sell their five-bedroom Gold Coast mansion, which most recently had been listed for $6 million. The couple gutted the 8,000-square-foot home after buying it for $2.1 million in 2013. They first listed it in February for $6.8 million. [Chicago Tribune]
Uptown getting another entertainment venue
Lakeview’s TimeLine Theatre is moving to Uptown, the latest entertainment venue to set sights on the neighborhood. TimeLine bought the building at 5033-35 North Broadway and plans to open by fall 2021. The Double Door music venue and Baton Show Lounge drag bar are both also moving to Uptown, and the Uptown Theater is undergoing a $75 million renovation. [Block Club]
Widow sues Geneva mall over construction accident that killed her husband
The widow of a contractor killed in an accident at the Geneva Commons mall last year is suing the mall operator and several other firms over her husband’s death. Electrician Donald R. Tentler II of West Dundee suffocated after he was pinned by an aerial lift while installing a sign on the mall’s bell tower in February 2017. [Daily Herald]
