Carson’s returning to Orland Square

Carson’s signed a lease at Orland Square Mall in southwest suburban Orland Park with plans to open by spring. The store will open in the former Carson’s Furniture Gallery at the mall and will be the second Carson’s to reopen since the department store chain was liquidated earlier this year. Allbirds opening Chicago store

Online retailer Allbirds is bringing its self-proclaimed “world’s most comfortable shoes” to a brick-and-mortar location on Chicago’s North Side. San Francisco-based Allbirds is the latest to get in on the so-called clicks-to-bricks phenomenon in Chicago, taking some 2,000 square feet at 843 West Armitage Avenue. The store will be Allbirds’ fourth, though it has plans to open eight more next year. [Chicago Tribune]

Rosemont entertainment district filling up

Two more tenants are coming to the entertainment district in suburban Rosemont next year. Work is scheduled to begin soon on Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership, Rosemont officials said. The stores will bring the total number of businesses in the village-owned, 200,000-square-foot Parkway Bank Park to 15. [Daily Herald]

REVA proposing resi project in Deerfield

REVA Development Partners is moving forward with its plans for a 246-unit residential project near the Deerbrook in north suburban Deerfield. Village officials gave preliminary approval to the plan after the developer said it would set aside 18 units as affordable housing. The project will contain 186 one- and two-bedroom apartments in a five-story building ringed by 60 townhomes. [Deerfield Review]

Lexington Homes bringing rowhome development to Avondale

Lexington Homes launched sales for its Lexington Village at Avondale rowhome project on the North Side. The project at Karlov and Belmont avenues in Avondale will feature 22 units with base prices from $535,000 to $565,000. The first building in the project is already under construction. [GlobeSt]

Winthrop Harbor pushing to bring hotel to village’s lakefront

Officials in far north suburban Winthrop Harbor created an enterprise zone they hope will woo a 150-room lakefront hotel. The enterprise zone designation will allow the village to offer tax incentives to a developer to build the hotel on five acres north of North Point Marina designated for commercial use. Officials said a hotel has always been in the plans for the harbor since it was created in 1989, but the idea has been shelved until now. [Lake County News-Sun]
