A lakefront mansion on the North Shore that once belonged to lawyer-turned-crime novelist Scott Turow hit the market.

Listed at $5.5 million, the modernist home at 325 Shoreline Court in Glencoe was bought by Turow and his then-wife, Annette, in 2001, Crain’s reported. The couple spent $4.79 million on the 6,100-square-foot, five-bedroom home, according to the report.

Turow, a partner with the Dentons law firm, has written a number of books, most notably, “Presumed Innocent,” which was turned into a movie starring Harrison Ford.

The house, which includes 133 feet of lake frontage, was transferred to a trust after he and his wife divorced, and the trust sold it for $5 million in 2009. The current owner is Yothin Dumnernchanvanit, head of a Thailand-based paper company, Crain’s reported.

If the home trades at or near its asking price it would add to a hot streak for Chicago-area homes selling for $4 million or more in the last year. The property sits in an area of the North Shore that, along with Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, regularly dominates the list of most expensive residential sales.

A sprawling Glencoe estate once home to the family behind the Hoover vacuum company recently sold for $10 million to a buyer who plans to divide it into as many as 24 home sites. [Crain’s] — John O’Brien
