Woodlawn home deals breaking sales price records

Several recent home sales in Woodlawn broke the record for the priciest residential deals in the neighborhood. Three new-construction homes in the 6100 block of South Ellis Avenue traded for $708,000, $707,000 and $699,000, according to Midwest Real Estate Data. A year ago, the record was $599,000, and the neighborhood since notched six sales of $625,000 or more. Plans for the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park and the proximity to the University of Chicago have boosted property values in the area. [Crain’s]

Taylor Morrison’s townhome project in Rolling Meadows faces opposition

Rolling Meadows officials criticized a developer’s plans for 106 townhomes on the site of a former Dominick’s store. The city plan commission said the three-story buildings included in Taylor Morrison Home Corporation’s project at 2819-2915 Kirchoff Road would be too tall. Taylor Morrison is proposing a mix of three-story and two-story homes. It is the same heights included in a prior plan for the site by Ryan Homes that won preliminary city approval but was ultimately abandoned. [Daily Herald]

Hotel on University of Chicago campus set to rise along Midway

Work is set to begin this spring on a new hotel on the University of Chicago campus in Hyde Park. The 12-story Study-branded hotel will be built along the Midway Plaisance at 1225 East 60th Street, next to the David M. Rubenstein Forum conference center. The 167-key hotel would open in early 2021, officials said. [Curbed]

Buffalo Grove charting future of development around train station

Buffalo Grove officials are drawing up plans for future development around the Prairie View Metra station on the village’s north side. Officials as early as next month could adopt the master plan for the 128 acres around the station at 2701 Main Street. The plan envisions a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, multifamily housing and commercial space in three distinct areas around the station. [Daily Herald]

In-flight tech firm signs big industrial lease

Astronics Corporation will double its space and consolidate three facilities after signing a seven-year, 116,000-square-foot industrial lease at 800 South Northpoint Boulevard in Waukegan. The company, which makes technology for in-flight entertainment systems, is vacating another Waukegan location and two in Itasca. Colliers International’s Chris Volkert represented both Astronics and landlord Venture One in the lease deal. [GlobeSt.]
