Sterling Bay clears hurdle on Michigan Avenue hotel, apartments
The Chicago Plan Commission this week endorsed Sterling Bay’s plan to replace a low-rise building at 300 North Michigan Avenue with a 46-story tower. The $252 million project would have 289 residential units, 280 hotel rooms and ground-floor commercial space. The project still needs approval approval from the City Council’s Zoning Committee and the full council. [Curbed]
Apartments could rise on former Red Apple Buffet site
The developer who bought Avondale’s beloved Red Apple Buffet plans to replace it with a four-story apartment building. Developer Stanislaw Pluta plans 27 units over ground-floor retail on the former site of the Polish restaurant at 3114 North Ridgeway Avenue and 3105-19 North Milwaukee Avenue. Some 21 of the apartments would be three-bedrooms with the remaining units two-bedrooms. Rents are expected to be between $2,000 and $2,500. [Block Club]
Industrial building to rise in Bridge Development’s Bolingbrook complex
Bridge Development Partners is moving forward with a 219,000-square-foot spec industrial building in Bolingbrook. The building is the final phase in the Fountain Square Commerce Center, which Bridge bought in November for $73.5 million. Premier Design + Build is the general contractor on the project. GlenStar creating a buzz at two suburban office complexes
GlenStar welcomed thousands of new residents to its Bannockburn Lakes and Schaumburg Corporate Center complexes, and they’re already generating a buzz.
