North Park Ventures is looking to get in on the Fulton Market office — and hotel — bandwagon with a 19-story building near the gateway to the neighborhood.
The Chicago developer filed permits to demolish a row of buildings in the 800 block of West Lake Street and replace them with a 228,000-square-foot structure, according to Crain’s.
North Park managing partner Rob Sekula declined comment to Crain’s on the breakdown of office vs. hotel space in the building.
Hundreds of new hotel rooms are either proposed or in the works in Fulton Market, to go with the millions of square feet of office space in the pipeline in the neighborhood.
The North Park building would be across the street from the 750,000-square-foot office complex that Shapack Partners is building at 167 North Green Street, and about a block from the 200-key hotel proposed this week by FitzGerald Associates Architects.
North Park previously developed apartments in Lakeview and elsewhere on the North Side, but this would be its first Fulton Market project. [Crain’s] — John O’Brien
