Chicago Airbnb hosts, mark your calendars.

Over the five biggest weekends last year that included Lollapalooza and Pride Fest, Cook County Airbnb hosts raked in $31.3 million, according to a report in the Chicago Sun-Times.

This may not come as a surprise, considering Lollapalooza broke the record for most reservations in a single weekend for the short-term rental platform in Chicago. Airbnb counted 22,000 reservations over that weekend alone in early August. The other big weekends were the Chicago Marathon in mid-October, Labor Day and a weekend in mid-August.

In total, Cook County Airbnb hosts raked in $133.5 million in 2019, and had 839,000 guests.

The company may have some competition in the future, however. Sonder, another short-term rental company, was valued at $1 billion in July, and has entered the Chicago market. [Sun-Times] — Jacqueline Flynn
