Edgar Jannotta, the chairman emeritus of William Blair, sold his Winnetka mansion for $6.3 million just 34 days after it hit the market.

Located on Whitebridge Hill Road, the house sold March 1, according to Crain’s Chicago. The Cape Cod-style house was the highest suburban home price in 2022 thus far and the sixth highest in the Chicago area.

Jannotta paid just over $3.2 million for the property in 2000 with his wife, Deborah, who died in 2014. Built in 1955, the home sits on one acre and has about 100 feet of Lake Michigan beach front.

The property was listed on the open market on Jan. 17 and went under contract only three days later. The buyers were not identified in public records, according to Crain’s.

Tim Sheahan, the Compass agent who represented the buyers, told Crain’s his clients jumped on the property quickly and “offered above list and secured the deal fast.”

Catherine King of Compass represented Jannotta, and said she wasn’t surprised by how fast the home sold. Given the performance of the luxury suburban market and the unique appeal of the 3,400square-foot home. “Not everyone who wants lakefront wants a 10,000-square-foot house,” King told Crain’s.

Jannotta joined William Blair, an investment bank and wealth management firm, in 1959 as an associate fresh out of Harvard Business School. He would later serve as managing partner and then as chairman.
