A 151-acre estate west of Chicago that includes a helipad, horse stables and a riding area is seeking $7.4 million, a price that tops the chart of local ambitions in the current market.
The home is located in Elburn, a far west suburb of Chicago, and was built in 1994.
The 6,500-square-foot home is a rarity in Kane County, where no other homes are for sale above $5 million. Its nearest competitors are a $4.9 million listing in Elburn and a $3.9 million listing in St. Charles.
Paula Johnson with Compass is representing the listing and did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication. The owner of the property is not clear from public records.
In addition to the helipad, the property includes a main house, a two-bedroom guest house and a pool house with two bathrooms, a kitchen and two-car garage. It also has ample amenities for equestrians, including three horse paddocks, four pastures, a maintenance building and a hay barn, a six-stable horse barn and a 7000 square-foot indoor riding arena.
The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom main house includes two kitchens, with one for catering, a wine cellar, wine tasting room, skee ball machine, ping pong, a 12-seat home theater and a home gym.
It’s unclear whether this property will be sold for its listing price, however. Some of Chicago’s biggest sales this year — such as the $12.75 million sale in Winnetka or the record-setting $20 million sale at Trump Tower — were significantly under asking prices.
In July and June, no homes sold in Kane County for over $2.3 million. The five priciest home sales in the county in July ranged from $980,000 to $1.8 million.
