A 9,700-square-foot mansion in Chicago’s Lake View neighborhood is its newest and priciest listing, and represents the biggest test of the area market in more than a year.
The seven-bedroom, six-bathroom home on Greenview Avenue is seeking $5.7 million — and is currently the only home in Lake View publicly listed for sale above $4 million. Should the property sell for close to its list price, it would be the first sale in the neighborhood to break $4 million since October 2021.
Built in 2005, the home last sold for $2.4 million in 2013, making the list price more than double its previous value. The home has since been redesigned, including an addition, according to the listing.
Jennifer Mills with Jameson Sotheby’s Intl Realty is representing the listing, and did not respond to a request for comment. The owners are not listed in Cook County property records and are shielded through a limited liability company.
Amenities include an indoor pool room with glass roof and retractable skylight, a four-car heated garage, an elevator, a wine cellar, a library, home theater, children’s playroom, two laundry rooms and a rooftop deck.
The home sits on an unusually large 62.5-foot lot, and the 25-foot lot next door is also for sale, giving the buyers the opportunity to create a larger yard.
Should this home sell, it would be similar to deals in nearby Lincoln Park, where custom single-family homes are more common than in Lake View. About a year ago, a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house totaling 10,000 square feet at 2902 North Burling Street sold for $4.55 million, the last time a Lake View single-family home broke the $4 million mark. There isn’t a record of any single-family home sale in the Lake View area for more than $5 million on Zillow.
In Lincoln Park, though, a mansion previously owned by Ken Griffin’s ex-wife is seeking $9.5 million, a drop from when it last sold for $10 million on July 12.
And Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic bought a $4.75 million Lincoln Park mansion this year, just over a year after he joined the team.
