Billingsley Company is looking to add to its 1,000-acre Cypress Waters mixed-use development with another multifamily complex south of North Lake in Dallas.

The company has filed a development plan with the City of Dallas to build more than 500 multifamily units across multiple one-to-three story buildings on a 16-acre tract of undeveloped land off the corner of Van Zandt Drive and Dynamo Drive. North Lake is adjacent to Irving and Coppell but within Dallas’ city limits.

The Dallas City Plan Commission approved the proposal Oct. 13, but it still requires final approval from the City Council.

The apartments would include a leasing office, a fitness center, a clubhouse and a two-story parking garage.

The company has not released costs for the proposal.

Cypress Waters first broke ground in 2013 and now includes 3.4 million square feet of office space, 282,000 square feet of retail space and four multifamily complexes with 2,900 units total, according to the company’s website. A 300,000 square foot office tower opened at the site this summer.

Billingsley spent three years in litigation in the mid-2000’s to get permission to build Cypress Waters. The family-run development company has been operating since 1978 and has master planned communities and mixed-use projects across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
