Well, that didn’t take long.
A luxurious lakefront mansion in Winnetka recently went under contract, attracting a buyer in just over two weeks after listing for close to $13 million, Crain’s Chicago reported.
The 12,500-square-foot property at 691 Sheridan Road has five bedrooms, a pool, spa, and a private beach. With an asking price of $12.85 million, the swift sale indicates a potential closing at or near the listing price, according to the outlet.
The mansion, previously purchased in 2016 for $5.35 million, has undergone extensive renovations by its current owners. The property’s red brick exterior has been replaced with a white facade, the roof has been replaced, and the interior has been redecorated., the outlet said. Additionally, the third floor has been transformed into an office, bathroom, and gym, while the outdoor area now features an inviting kitchen and improved landscaping.
Situated on a bluff overlooking the lake, the mansion offers direct access to a private beach spanning 94 feet of shoreline. The cove-shaped beach creates warmer shallow waters during the summer compared to the broader beaches nearby.
The sale, along with another Winnetka mansion half a mile away, currently under contract for just under $15 million, be the highest price for the year.
The top spot is currently held by Ken Griffin’s $11.2 million sale of a Park Tower penthouse earlier this year.
As the deal progresses, it is likely to boost this year’s list of mega sales, particularly if it closes at over $10 million. Currently, only two homes in the Chicago area have surpassed this threshold: the Park Tower penthouse and a Lincoln Park mansion sold for $10.65 million. Last year, by this time, four homes had closed at prices exceeding $10 million, with a total of nine such sales by year-end.
Jena Radnay of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate has the listing. The agent representing the potential buyers was not identified.
