Winnetka rental mansion runs $44K a month

Renters with deep pockets might want to turn their focus toward a newly-listed Winnetka mansion.

The 20-room, 8,000-square-foot estate at 919 Hill Road is up for grabs, and it costs $43,500 per month, Crain’s reported. Jena Radnay of @properties is the listing agent.

The Art Deco-era home, which Radnay’s listing declares is reminiscent of a Great Gatsby-style mansion, is adorned with luxurious features like a blue lacquer room and a gallery-style four-car garage. Spanning 1.25 acres, it’s the priciest rental property in the Chicago area that’s publicly listed.

The mansion is a stone’s throw away from a recently sold $6.2 million property, whose sellers were also represented by Radnay. The rental house, built in 1929, features a grand entrance with a carved limestone facade, a vine-covered pergola and a long lawn leading to an iron gate.

The current owner, Keith Rudman, a veteran Chicago trader now residing in North Carolina, purchased the mansion in April 2020 for more than $3.21 million. That’s roughly half of what the property sold for in 2009 to the owner prior to Rudman.

Details on whether the mansion is fully furnished remain unclear, as neither Radnay nor Rudman have provided comments. However, listing photos showcase furnished rooms, including living and dining areas with intricate moldings, a white and stainless steel kitchen and a distinctive blue lacquer room, the outlet reported.

Another six-bedroom mansion in Winnetka on Woodley Road is available for rent at $35,000 per month. The city’s most expensive rental, a $45,300-a-month Old Town apartment with a private pool, is currently not listed on rental sites.

Winnetka is also home to the two priciest Chicago-area sales of 2023. The 12,000-square-foot estate at 691 Sheridan Road traded for $12.5 million this past summer, and the 10,000-square-foot house at 445 Sheridan Road sold for $12.25 million about a month later.
