The Capitanini Team has become the fourth Coldwell Banker Realty team to switch over to Compass in the last week.

Brokers Pedro Castaneda, Anne Gummersall – another North Shore player – and Damone Richardson have also left Coldwell for Compass, the latter said in a news release. Castaneda and Richardson both work in Chicago.

Frank and Trish Capitanini’s team of five exceeded $37 million in sales last year, and has an overall sales volume of more than $1 billion, according to a Friday news release from Compass. The team was ranked as the No. 1 Coldwell Banker Realty team in the brokerage’s North Shore office.

Their changeup in affiliation marks at least the second big pickup by Compass in the Chicago area since one of Cook County’s top brokers by sales volume Mario Greco, formerly of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, jumped to Compass earlier this year.

Broker acquisitions may prove timely for Compass, which is in the midst of a crucial stretch for its finances after posting a $133 million loss in the first quarter while achieving positive cash flow for the first time in six months.

“We are proud to welcome the Capitanini Team to the growing Compass family in Chicago,” Fran Broude, Compass Regional Vice President, said in the release. “With a firm commitment to client satisfaction and a track record of success, the Capitanini Team has consistently ranked among the top performers in the region, and we look forward to supporting them to greater heights.”

The team cited Compass’ end-to-end platform and marketing support as reasons for their move in the news release.

“We wish them all the best,” Ayoub Rabah, regional president of Coldwell Banker Realty’s Midwest branch said in a statement. “We have valued their partnership and look forward to continuing to work with them.”

The Capitanini Team also includes daughters Gianna Capitanini and Ryann Capitanini as well as future daughter-in-law Rachel Uskokovich.

“We are thrilled to join Compass,” Frank Capitanini said in the release. “The support and technology available at Compass are like none available anywhere else, and they will elevate our clients’ experience.”
