Jameson Sotheby’s push into Chicago’s ritzy suburban North Shore has yielded a gain from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.
Mark Pasquesi is switching teams, after 11 years affiliating with BHHS Chicago and rising from a broker to president.
Pasquesi will lead Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty’s Lake Forest office as well as a Winnetka office Jameson Sotheby’s is planning to open.
His move marks the latest in a string of losses of executives and dealmaking talent for BHHS, which last year lost one of Cook County’s top brokers, when Mario Greco jumped to Compass.
The trend continued earlier this year as Zak Knebel’s the ZK Group, a top six-agent team in River Forest and Oak Park, left BHHS Chicago for @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. That brokerage is soon to be under the Compass ownership umbrella as part of a $444 million acquisition that will combine the Chicago area’s largest two brokerages and is set to pose a formidable challenge to other brokers fighting for their slice of market volume.
Diane Glass, CEO of BHHS Chicago, is taking Pasquesi’s departure in stride, saying the firm has elevated its own talent as of late.
In Grayslake, for instance, BHHS agents Kim Shortsle and Carleigh Goldsberry in November listed a 53-acre estate for $10 million — a price threshold rarely crossed in the region — that belonged to late mortgage executive William Giambrone and his surviving widow Michele. The listing represented a strong catch within the ultra high-end segment of the Chicagoland market for BHHS, whose luxury presence is more muted compared to other local firms.
But Shortsle and Goldsberry last week also jumped ship, leaving BHHS for the Jameson Sotheby’s Lake Forest office, as well.
“Change unlocks new possibilities and reveals opportunities for growth,” Glass said in a statement. “… Our goal is sustained, long-term growth, and we are recruiting agents who serve passionately, with expertise and clarity that compels others to follow.”
