A restored lakefront mansion in Kenilworth hit the market for $15 million, setting a listing price record for the wealthy North Shore village.
The home at 219 Sheridan Road spans 8,300 square feet on half an acre, asking $1,812 per square foot, according to the listing.
The seller is design firm Caladrius Studio founder Yoanna Kulas, who bought the six-bedroom estate in 2020 for $4.5 million, the Chicago Tribune reported. Jena Radnay of @properties Christie’s has the listing.
She completed a full-scale renovation, preserving historic features while introducing high-tech features. Architect Michael Abraham and luxury designer Mick De Giulio led the design work.
The Colonial Revival home was built in 1906 by Paul Starrett, the builder behind the Empire State Building and Lincoln Memorial. It’s the highest-priced listing in Kenilworth history, eclipsing the suburb’s previous record of $11.75 million for a Sheridan Road mansion sold in 2020, the outlet said.
The home features custom LED lighting, concealed kitchen appliances, restored oak floors, wrought-iron railings and zoned climate control. The primary suite has a spa-style bath and custom wardrobe room with leather detailing. The lower level houses a wine cellar, theater, catering kitchen and wellness suite with a sauna, steam room and massage space.
A 115-foot private beach, fire pit, boathouse, terraces and a glass-enclosed patio with panoramic lake views round out the offering.
The property’s mortgage documents name Kulas’ husband, Mark, who owns housekeeping firm Kulas Maids, but Radnay said Mark is not an owner, Crain’s reported. The seller’s two sons, Mark and Christian, were sentenced to home confinement and fined for their roles in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. President Trump pardoned 1,500 such cases at the start of his second term.
Kulas told the outlet she “fell in love” with the views and vintage detailing of the home, calling it “a treasure from a bygone era.”
“It would have been easier to start from scratch, but she chose to preserve a piece of Kenilworth history,” Radnay said.
If it sells near the asking price, the home will reset the high-water mark for Kenilworth and join the top tier of luxury sales along the Lake Michigan shoreline, where listings above $10 million are relatively rare despite growing ultrawealth demand.
