A Burr Ridge mansion hit the market recently for $10 million, an asking price nearly 45 percent higher than the suburb’s record sale.
The 9,300-square-foot estate at 6191 South County Line Road, known as Saddle Hill Farm, was built in 1946 and sits on 7.34 acres, the Chicago Tribune reported. The asking price amounts to $1,073 per square foot.
The six-bedroom main house has six-and-a-half bathrooms, a great room with custom woodwork, lower-level recreation room and a first-floor office. A two-bedroom coach house has a full bathroom and kitchen.
The estate is geared toward equestrian enthusiasts with a lighted, fenced-in riding area and stables. Listing agent Megan McCleary of McCleary Group said Saddle Hill Farm has grandfathered horse rights, and it is the last gentleman’s farm in the area. The property also features a tennis court, hot tub and walking paths.
It can be subdivided, according to Burr Ridge village guidelines.
Owner Jacqueline Laase Portillo and her former husband Beau Parrillo bought the mansion in 2002 for $1.65 million on roughly 4 acres and added an adjoining three acres in 2007 for $1.8 million.
The highest sale in Burr Ridge was recorded in 2022. Carmela Wallace, mother of the late rapper Juice WRLD, paid $6.9 million for a six-bedroom, 17,000-square-foot home at 6679 Lee Court. Wallace also purchased two acres next door to the mansion for $1.4 million at the same time, for a combined $8.3 million. In nearby Hinsdale, Information Resources CEO Andrew Appel bought a five-bedroom, 17,581-square-foot mansion for $7.65 million in 2020.
Since the 2022 record, the area notched several sales in the $3 million range, but other large-scale properties have sat on the market before selling at steep discounts. That includes a 30,000-square-foot megamansion known as Villa Taj that once listed for $25 million but sold for $3 million in 2020.— Eric Weilbacher
