Lakefront Mansion Back on the Market for $14M

A Glencoe area mansion is back up for sale with a staggering 60.8 percent markup less than a year after it was sold, while another mansion is up for the same price.

The pair of lakefront area mansions are going for the $14 million range, with the marked-up one at $14.8 million. The mark-up for the home at 21 Lakewood Drive was last sold in April 2025, and is emblazoned with a “coming soon” banner on real estate websites. The last time it was sold, it went for $9.2 million, according to Crain’s. The other property is less than a mile away on Longwood Drive.

While the 8,574-square-foot Lakewood Drive property was quickly updated and flipped, the Longwood Drive property has been held by the same owner for nearly four decades, according to the outlet, who cited Cook County Clerk records. The Lakewood Drive owners are not publicly known, but Jameson Sotheby’s International Real Estate’s Linda Levin, who represents the owners, confirmed it’s for sale for $14.8 million.

When the five-bedroom, eight-bathroom manse sold in April 2025, it was for the highest dollar amount in the area in over a decade, according to the outlet. There have been minimal refurbishings, and while it sits on a bluff overlooking the lake, it does not have direct access. When the property went up for sale in 2024, its listing agent told the publication that new ownership could easily get the permits for beach access. It doesn’t appear like the current owner has obtained said permits.

Lakefront property has been booming in price over the past few years, according to the outlet. Two homes in Winnetka sold for over $30 million in 2025, and in Gary, Indiana, $2.1 million was dropped on a lakefront home this May. In April, a mansion that was not yet complete out of Winnetka hit the market with an asking price of $16.9 million.
