In Chicago’s central business district, the vacancy rate for sublease office space fell for the fifth quarter in a row, according to a new report from commercial real estate firm Transwestern.
The total amount of space available in March was about 5.6 million square feet, marking about 3.6 percent of the market’s total inventory.
In December 2023, about 8.3 million square feet was vacant – a record high.
Two top tenants that took subleases since the end of 2024 Southern Graphic Systems and ReloShare, which took a combined nearly 53,000 square feet from GlassDoor at 133 W. Fulton Street.
Most of the available sublease space – about 2.6 million square feet, or 46 percent of – is in the West Loop.
