In February, two Texan metropolitan areas recorded the highest apartment vacancy rates among the top cities in the country.
In the Dallas area, 8.6 percent of apartments are empty, and 8 percent of units are vacant in the Houston region, according to data from Apartment List.
The New York City metro region notched the lowest vacancy rate among the top 10 cities in the U.S., of 4.9 percent.
Looking at the top 50 metro areas in the country, Providence recorded a 4.1 percent apartment vacancy rate, the lowest among those cities.
The highest was in Birmingham, which saw a February vacancy rate of 10.5 percent. Austin was next on the list, with 9.8 percent of its apartments empty.
