This ranking shows New York City’ top builders in two categories — square footage of new buildings and the estimated cost of alteration projects.
The source of the data for this ranking is DOB Now and DOB BIS. The dataset includes new-building and alterations permits issued in all five boroughs between 2/15/22 and 2/15/23. New building permits counted for the ranking are the latest issued with the permit type initial filings (I1s and Z1s) and 01-NB ONLY. Both rankings count only the latest permit for each project issued with the general contractor as the applicant.
The dataset includes the top 20 most active general contractors for new buildings (based on total square footage) and for alterations (based on cost estimates), and includes a count of each contractor’s projects.
