This dataset ranks the city’s top general contractors based on their new construction and renovation projects in NYC.
The Real Deal analyzed building permits issued by the City of New York between March 1, 2025, and March 1, 2026, for work in all five boroughs where the general contractor is listed as the applicant.
The dataset includes top 40 rankings for new construction (ranked by total square footage) and alterations (ranked by total estimated cost). The rankings also include project counts, and the dataset contains details on all projects examined in the study, including 57,666 alterations permits and 746 new building permits.
