Abu Dhabi just set a new record for the most expensive apartment sale in the Emirati capital — and it isn’t even finished being built yet.
The to-be-completed penthouse at the Four Seasons Private Residences Abu Dhabi at Saadiyat Beach sold for AED 200 million ($54.5 million), Mansion Global reported. It blows the previous record out of the water, set by a penthouse last year at the Nobu Residences on Saadiyat Island for AED 137 million ($37.3 million).
The Four Seasons penthouse spans 14,240 square feet; the sale works out to AED 14,000 ($3,812) per square foot.
“This milestone sale demonstrates the strength of the city’s luxury market and the appetite among discerning global buyers for prestigious, world-class residences,” Leigh Borg, managing director of Abu Dhabi Sotheby’s International Realty, said in a statement of the purchase. Abu Dhabi Sotheby’s International Realty is in charge of all sales at the new Four Seasons development.
So far this year, Abu Dhabi has seen AED 92 billion (nearly $25.1 billion) worth of transactions, per Abu Dhabi Real Estate Center data.
The unidentified buyer will enjoy five bedrooms in the penthouse and a bevy of amenities including an office lounge, an in-residence fitness studio and spa and a home theater. The home in the sky will also boast beachfront views overlooking the Persian Gulf.
Once completed, the Four Seasons development in Abu Dhabi will consist of 56 villas and 60 suites, including penthouses such as the recently sold unit. Shared amenities at the property will include three pools, a cigar lounge, a multi-use tennis court with a pavilion, a padel court, a golf simulation room and various fitness facilities.
The Four Seasons Private Residences at Saadiyat Island is projected to be completed by the second quarter of 2029. Local developer and asset management company ALAIN is bringing the project to life. The Four Seasons residences will join the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island.
