Famed musician and Scientologist Beck recently acquired a Mandeville Canyon property for $3.2 million — about $500,000 above its asking price.

He bought the 2,600-square-foot property from Hollywood power couple James Mangold and Cathy Konrad. Mangold co-wrote the award-winning film “Walk the Line,” which Konrad produced.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom house was built in the 1960s with Tudor-style architecture and has since been renovated and restored. It features reading nooks, hand-hewn ceiling beams, a courtyard and a separate two-car garage.

Coldwell Banker’s Bret Parsons was the listing agent.

Beck, a prolific musician who has won five Grammy Awards, is apparently quite the real estate enthusiast. He has bought and sold several homes in L.A., including an Hancock Park property that he bought for $6.8 million in 2007 and subsequently sold to Shonda Rhimes for $5.6 million.
