Residents of Hipster Town Los Angeles may have some new neighbors.
Plans have been filed with the city for a new 45-unit apartment building at 1301 West Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park. The structure would also have 950 square feet of commercial space on the quieter stretch of Sunset Boulevard past Guisado’s that has only recently seen some retail interest.
The request was filed by Robert Assil of an LLC called 1301 Sunset Partners. Assil is also linked to Syndcore Holdings LLC, the recorded owner of the property, according to CoStar. Syndcore acquired the site, which houses currently an auto repair shop, for $2.7 million in May.
Of the 45 apartments, four would be designated as “very low income housing.”
In May, Engine Real Estate acquired a mixed-use property just down the road at 1461 West Sunset Boulevard for $4.7 million and announced plans to modernize it. And nearby in Westlake, development firm Square One Homes is also planning an apartment complex — a six-story, 40-unit building with its own affordable units.
